OUR HISTORY

Durango Stone started with the dream of bringing Italian stone to Designers, Architects, Installers and Distributors who want the timeless quality and beauty that is natural Italian stone.

1972

Introduction to Italian Stone
Durango Stone Initially began as a seller and installer of stone. Soon materials are needed which are not stocked in the USA, so off to Italy.

Carrera White becomes the first import. Met a fine group of stone professionals who embrace our efforts to be a wholesale supplier in the USA, which was an undiscovered market at the time.
1988

First Factory Purchased
After years of traveling to Italy, the commute time becomes more difficult. The plan to move closer to home becomes a reality as our first Mexico Factory is purchased in Durango, Mexico.
1993

Plant #1 Completely Rebuilt
Our first plant is completely rebuilt to modern Italian Machinery Standards. With this addition, our Company starts to expand and grow.
1994

Plant #2 In Operation
As distribution and sales grows, a second plant is needed; this second plant includes completely new technology. An exciting time for everyone involved.
1999

Plant #3 In Operation
After three years in planning stages our third plant opens up, this is a 30,300 square foot production factory filled with state-of-the-art Italian Machinery, including seventeen cranes to move materials with ease.
2010

$17M in quarries, equipment, & infrastructure
We continue growing and keeping our Quality Promise that we operate our quarries and factories at the highest standards of the Italian Trade Commission, who invented the Natural Stone Production Art.
2020

Meeting Challenges Head-on
The most exciting time in the company’s history! This was the time when we took on the challenges of Covid-19, with a “can do” attitude. Rebranded our products, brought on several new and modern Limestone’s, offered a more unique approach to our customers needs, by giving direct access to our president and CEO Frank Cunningham, who’s knowledge and expertise in the industry has been his trademark for over forty years. We are also started to work with one of Italy’s top Stone experts known in the industry for decades, in doing so it gives us a an edge on sourcing stone and bringing the best selection to you.

Durango Stone Offers: Slabs, Pavers, Tile, fountains and mosaic, as well as we keeping with our promise that if you can dream it, we can build it.
